A night of blues, folk, and roots-infused rock at the Brass Monkey with two of Sydney’s finest singer-songwriters. Kim Girdlestone and Pete Campbell are joined by their bands for full sets of storytelling and song, with collaborations throughout. Expect soul, authenticity, and unforgettable live moments.

Kim Girdlestone is the kind of singer whose voice changes the temperature of a room. Warm, soulful, and unforced, her delivery feels effortless, yet it’s clearly backed by craft and intent — a balance that earned her a place as a 2024 Sydney Blues Society Challenge finalist.

At home on the Brass Monkey stage, she brings her Daisy Chain Blues into sharp focus: songs built on honest storytelling, emotional restraint, and the occasional wry turn of phrase.

She’s joined by long-time collaborator Gavin Moar (Cote Guitars), with Jed Wesley-Smith on bass, Tim Bradley on drums, and Rosco Waraker on keys — a band that knows when to lean in and when to leave space.

Fresh from her fifth consecutive Cronulla Jazz & Blues Festival, the group recently appeared on Channel 7 and 9 News supporting live music across NSW.

Pete Campbell is a prolific live artist and songwriter, winner of the 2024 Fretfest Song Contest in Tamworth. He is currently preparing for the early 2026 release of his debut album, Barely Fed, recorded with his live band, The Lazy Dog.

Pete’s sound blends acoustic and electric folk — from Appalachia and London to the streets of Sydney — with threads of blues, country, and roots. His influences range from Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, and John Prine to contemporary songwriters like Paul Kelly, Kevin Bennett, Bernard Fanning, Neil Finn, and Laura Marling.

The Lazy Dog — Jed Wesley-Smith (bass), Tim Bradley (drums), and Ross Waraker (keys) — provide a dynamic, textured foundation, heard on singles such as The Parts I’ve Seen and The Ballad of Dark and Light.
